Sandbanks
The new owners of the previous residents wanted to refresh the garden. The garden had become tired and was planted in a formal and outmoded style.
The new design was developed by myself and fitted to the wants and needs of the clients. The concept was to revamp much of the existing garden with a new and vibrant planting scheme.
Removing some of the old-fashioned plants and replacing with colourful and vibrant planting in the style of a beach garden. The planting had to be designed with plants that would survive the environment such as Grasses and Armeria.
SandbanksThe development of the fire pit gave the space a vibrant and modern style with a great space to use for entertaining.
The BBQ also made the garden a great space for entertaining.
New pictures will be added in the spring when the plants come through and the project finished.
Bay hall
The renovation of Bay Hall into a commercial venture lead to me landscaping and designing the site. The gardens were derelict with an unusual Indian temple on site. The beds were cleared of rubbish and replanted and the sheds turned into a space for a hot tub and seating.
The courtyard at the back was transformed into a usable space with a tailor made/commissioned furniture that was made from old wheels I found in the sheds. The area became a place for seating and entertaining.
Morden Hall
Morden Hall is a grade 2 listed Georgian building owned by the National Trust. It is now operating as a wedding venue for a private company.
I was commissioned to redesign the planting and layout of the existing site. The gardens were overgrown and were in a general state of decline. The gardens were unfit for a wedding venue and I was asked to create a garden that would fit the style of the architecture and would be fitting for a wedding venue.
I redesigned and configurated and landscaped the gardens based on the classic designs of French and Italianate styles. The design incorporated classical urns and Bay trees with classical Buxus topiary in the courtyard. As well as small Parterre with seasonal bulbs and lavender for a classical finish.
The creation of a boulevard with Buxus standards planted in Faux- lead pots. The original designs by the famous architect Robert Adams. The boulevard was designed as a photo opportunity for the couples to walk along. A similar design was created for the front of the house with the use of Buxus and lavender planting. Finished off with over 400 tons of Breedon gravel along the walk ways.
Westminster Road
Lilliput Garden Rooms are a local company specializing in the installments of garden pods/rooms. I have worked on various projects designing planting for the areas in gardens where a room has been installed. The creation of new planting schemes that compliment the garden and the style of the architecture. This garden designed with subtropical plants such as Dicsonia as a feature and shade loving plants due to the large listed tree. The plants used were indigenous to the southern hemisphere, and gave the New Zealand born clients a sense of their homeland.
Wheatsone
This private garden in north London needed a face lift and some landscaping. Tired and old flower bed were replanted, and the front area turned into a new lawn space and planting scheme. The garden had some traditional aspects to it, with a mixed and colorful herbaceous border and planting small whips such as Birch trees and Amelanchier.
Surrey Road
This garden was in a poor state and had little room to entertain. This is a good example of how to maximize space and reconfigure a garden and revamp it. The plans and brief were created with discussion with the clients. They wanted a seaside feel with some tropical planting.
The excavation of a section of the raised bed created more space and a decked area for a BBQ and seating. The new cladded walls and color brightened up a cold dark space. The garden was especially good for the tropical plants both aesthetically fitting and the perfect place for them to grow with shade and sun.
Fresh Development
Commissioned to design an urban garden for a new development in Poole. The creation of a brief to design a garden that would be stylish and utilize the space for comfort and practicality. The sunken seating and Mediterranean themed planting. The use of lavender and Mediterranean herbs created a feeling of relaxation and calm (Salutogenic planting). The use of materials was important to the aesthetic, such as poured concrete, ceramic tiles and cedar wood gave the garden a cool and modern finish.
