Based in Bournemouth and working throughout Dorset, Hampshire and New Forrest. I am a specialist in garden and landscape design. With a portfolio of designs and a wealth of experience and knowledge, my passion and ethos are to design and install high quality gardens.

I have the ability to create new designs for gardens and urban spaces, revamp tired and old gardens with imaginative planting schemes. My designs are created through a perfected design process that fits with the wants and needs of the client, as well as a design that fits with the style and period of the architecture. My services also include consultation for the reconfiguration of gardens and landscapes and re-establish a functional and aesthetically satisfying garden.

The designs are created with a procedure that will deliver a desired aesthetic with the use of colour and form to create themes and a design concept to deliver on the final finished design.

The service includes some aspects of soft landscaping depending on the design brief and size. The hard landscaping is subcontracted to a reputable landscape company.

My role is the design and installation of the planting.

A garden aftercare service is available for clients who need regular maintenances after the installation of the plants and landscaping.

What you can expect from the garden design process?

Stage 1. Free Consultation

  • We arrange an initial meeting and garden consultation.
  • We discuss ideas for your garden and take some time to look at the main aspects.
  • It’s a complimentary session to establish your requirements and discuss taking it to the next stage.

Stage 2. Concept Plan

  • The second step is to provide you with a plan drawing and to discuss the style of your garden.
  • The consultation with the client will create a brief for the designer to begin the design process.

  • The creation of the brief will help you visualise your garden so you have a clear idea of what’s possible to create in your outdoor space.
  • The creation of the brief will consider the wants and needs of the client, as well as consideration for the Architecture, style, and position of the garden as well as any conservation issues.
  • Other things to discuss will include the material such as stone, paving, ornamental features and plants. This will help you to envisage the style and look of the finished garden.
  • In this session the designer will measure the area and on agreement with the client measure and create the layout of the garden. Then proceed in an initial first stage drawing.
  • This drawing will be used as specification for any contractors such as hard landscapers as a layout of the garden and for the designer to start the overall design.
  • At this stage a fee will be charged, this will be dependant on the size of the project and discussed in advance.

Stage 3. Garden Design

Attention to the Horticultural aspect of the design process. The creation of planting schemes though an in-depth understanding of the conditions that plants will grow in. The application of colour theory, garden history and horticultural knowledge in order to design and create a tradition display of colour or a minimalist modern effect.

Stage 4

  • The plans are sent to the landscape contractors to hard landscape the area.
  • The final planting design is submitted where the horticultural aspects of the process will begin.
  • The design fee will be calculated on the square meters/size of the garden. The fee for the overall design is covered in stage 3 and 4.

Stage 5

  • The final stage of the design and creation of the garden is planting up.

  • From the previous stages the working out of the amount of plants you will need for the final instalment of the plants and features.

  • This will be a separate costing based on calculation of the price and the amount of plants you will need for the final plant up.

  • The fee for this stage will include the deliver/collection of the plants. This includes the amount of plants needed as well as the laying out of the plants overseen by the designer.

  • The labour for the instalment of the plants will also be worked out in the costing based on the size of the plant up.
